Having both been summoned, Captain Ian Hunter and Dr. Teilani Dane found themselves entering the Maquis Intelligence Office almost at the same time.

Hunter looked at Dane inquisitively, "Have you... been trying to leave again?" he asked.

Teilani chuckled and blushed a little. "No Sir. Not this time. Have you?"

Hunter kept a straight face, "no..."

As they entered, the receptionist stood up, "they are in the meeting room," she said pointing down the hall, "on the left."

Hunter nodded, "thank you."

As they walked toward the room, Hunter stopped and turned to Dane. "Don't answer any more questions. I have some connections with the JAG. I'll pull some strings and get good Counsel to help sort this out."

Teilani nodded. "It will be alright Captain." she replied.

She took a deep breath and entered. She nodded as they were assigned some seats. As she sat down she rubbed her moist hands on the rim of her trousers, hopefully it would all end soon.

A few minutes later McBride and Admiral Stone entered.

Hunter glanced over at Dane as he stood up and acknowledged the senior officer.

"Please, at ease," said Stone.

Hunter and Dane sat down as McBride brought up some data on a large viewscreen.

"The reason you are here today," said Stone, "is a pre-mission briefing."

Hunter arched his brow, "briefing?"

"That's right," said McBride smiling at Dane, "your Doctor may have a vital connection we need."

Hunter looked at Dane.

Teilani shrugged and made a face at Hunter, displaying "I don't know"

She then turned her attention to McBride and something dawned on her, it would be......

McBride displayed a very old picture of Joshua, "as you may know, there is what is called an 'underground railroad' that brings people out of the Federation. This organization also from time to time supplies intelligence data as well."

McBride looked over his shoulder at the viewer, "this man, is Joshua Dane. He is one of the last links in the chain."

He displayed another man. "This is Victor Carrothers, an agent for the Maquis. Recently, Carrothers went missing and has not been heard of since. The chain is broken."

McBride paused and went on to say, "the only way to reestablish this connection is to make contact with someone who knows Joshua and whom Joshua knows and trusts." McBride nodded toward the Doctor, "this is where we need your help."

Teilani frowned and looked at Hunter. Then she looked back at the viewscreen. "What make you so sure that he will be trusting me, I haven't seen my brother in years. I don't even know what he looks like today." Teilani said softly.

McBride cleared his throat, "We know that your brother will trust you because he asked for you."

"He did, but I don't even know where to find him, let alone contact him. Heck if I knew that I would have done it months ago."

"Leave that to us. We know he's still on Mars," said McBride. "We're sending the Zion in."

"Captain?" Teilani asked.

Hunter shook his head as he tried to understand, "Mars? That's impossible. How..."

Stone leaned forward and interrupted. "We don't have all the parameters of the mission worked out."

Hunter looked at Stone skeptically, "Getting a ship the size of the Zion through the Terran Tachyon Field Matrix would be almost impossible."

With a reassuring nod, Stone replied, "That is why we are sending along a special package, a newly designed ship, big enough to get the job done, small enough to fit in your shuttle bay.

Hunter nodded, "The Pegasus."

"Correct," answered McBride.

With a smile Stone leaned back.

McBride went on to display the Pegasus deck plans on as he continued, "this ship can be configured with a variety of specialty modules suited to any type of mission."

Stone leaned forward, "There is another element of this mission," said the Admiral pausing, "We have just had one of our operatives return from an...assignment. His intel suggests that the enemy may have gotten their hands on our technical data for our version of the cloaking device. We already know they have restored their capabilities to produce Sovereign class vessels. This situation needs to be mitigated."

"I understand," said Hunter.

McBride made eye contact with each person in the room as the Admiral talked. When it was quiet again McBride sat down and thumbed through a PADD which contained Dane's background information.

He looked up at Dane, "This mission will require special field work Doctor, are you up for that?"

"I don't know Sir, but I will do my best." Teilani hesitated she was a doctore and not a marine, it would promised to become a time full of bruises and headaches. She needed coffee and lots of it.

McBride placed the PADD on the table.

"Excellent," he said. "I regret to tell you then, that your shoreleave has been canceled. You will be required to train for this mission and re-certify for weapons, field tactical protocols, field communications...and shuttle piloting," he said smirking slightly, knowing the story of her last piloting adventure.

Teilani rolled her eyes as she also remembered that mission.

"You will start tomorrow at 0530," said McBride.

"Gavin," said Stone, "tomorrow is Saturday, give them the week-end off and have them start Monday."

McBride picked up his PADD and made some notes, "Monday it is."

"Appreciated it Sir," Teilani answered softly.

The Intel Director stood up, "If there are no more questions, you are both dismissed."

Hunter stood up and looked at Dane who was also getting up from her seat. "Thank you Sir." said Hunter with a nod.

Hunter gestured toward the door, "after you Doctor."

Slowly Teilani stood up, thoughts were racing through her head, and walked in front of Hunter out into the corridor.

When the door closed behind them Hunter drew a breath of relief.

"Sorry," said Hunter, "I was worried for a moment," he confessed.

"Me too," Teilani replied. "So got any plans for the weekend Captain?"

"Well," said Hunter, "I have a Bajoran solar sail ship lined up, I was going to take the Commander out for a spin, but he has not returned yet."

"A Solar ship?" Teilani echoed. "Whats that?"

Hunter smiled, "a solar powered near-warp vessel."

"How about you Doctor? Big plans?"

"No plans at all, in fact I think this "last weekend" is going to be a drag" she replied with a grin. "I drove Doc Kensington nuts already, so the infirmary is off limits for me. Teilani chuckled.

Hunter grinned, "I see..."

"So, where are you going to take the solar vessel to then?" she asked.

"Well," said Hunter introspectively, "I hadn't really thought that much about it. Probably tack toward the sun and then have a nice leisurely sale back to here. Come to think of it as the commander is not back yet, there is an open seat on the vessel."

"I don't know Captain, as you know I am not very good at piloting a shuttle, let alone a pre-warp vessel."

"Think of it as learning the basics," replied Hunter, "We'll see you tomorrow morning?"

Teilani nodded. "Ok I would love to."
