=Cargo Bay 4=

Riaan arrived back on the ship and proceeded to Cargo 4 to see what the problem was. She entered and Ensign Grant was still marking off supplies.

Riaan walked over to Ensign Grant, “What is the problem that you needed to see me about?”

The shipment for medical supplies is incorrect this is not our shipment as he showed Riaan the manifest of the bin containing the medical supplies inside. This shipment belongs to another ship.

Riaan thought great that was all they needed time to contact Ensign Dane about the supplies she wasn’t going to like the news.

This is Ensign Riaan to Ensign Dane I have some bad news and need some confirmation regarding the order you placed can you please see me in Cargo Bay 4.

I’m on my way Teilani responded, grabbing the padd from her desk.

A few minutes later Teilani arrived in Cargo Bay 4 and walked over to Riaan.

I am afraid some how your medical supplies you placed aren’t here as Riaan showed Teilani the manifest. These supplies were supposed to go to the USS Sheppard. It may take a week if we are lucky to track down your order, for now I will contact someone on Qul Tuq about this order and have him or her start tracking where your order was sent.

Will you have enough medical supplies till I am able to sort this out, asked Riaan..

Teilani nodded, "just barely", as she crossed off the items which were delivered. "We simply have to do with what we have. Just find out how this happened", Teilani said with an upset voice. What else could go wrong?

Unfortunately I have to send this cargo back in order to Qul Tuq in order that the USS Sheppard receives their supplies and we can get ours whenever they locate the shipment. I’m afraid there isn’t much I can do at the present but I will try and have this straightened out before we leave Qul Tuq depending how quick we get a response back, as Riaan tried to sound optimistic and positive about this whole mess.

Teilani smiled, I'm glad to see that at least some body is still optimistic about the whole mess." Anyway carry on, Ensign. If you need me I am in sick bay and let me know when my supplies have arrived."

Understood, as Riaan smiled at Teilani.

Teilani exited the cargo bay, thoughts raced through her mind, could she manage with what was on hand.

After Teilani left Riaan had the cargo transported back to Qul Tuq Station.

This is Ensign Riaan to Ensign O’Donnell.

Ensign O’Donnell here what can I do for you?

We have received a bin that belongs to the USS Sheppard and we did not get our shipment of medical supplies that has been ordered. I have transported the shipment we received back to you; we need those medical supplies now we can’t wait we maybe pulling out in a day or so.

I will see what can be done and when I hear anything I will let you know, I am truly sorry for this and there will be an investigation as to how this happened in order to prevent this from happening again.

I hope you can do something about our medical supplies we don’t have enough on hand if we have to pull out.

Will see what can be done, Ensign O’Donnell out.

For now Riaan had to wait there was nothing more she could do for now.

Commander Wright rang the door chime outside the the captain's ready room. He had just returned from Qul Tuq. Once the captain had given his permission he entered.

Wright walked over to the captain's desk and placed 5 small black boxes on the desk in front of him. "At last we have some good news to give to a few of the crew."

"I suppose so Number One. Who's first?"

"Ensigh Melissa Jarvis."

Melissa Jarvis please come to my ready room.

Melissa aknowledged the captain and went right away to his ready room. Greeting the captain and the commander he stood in front oh his desk. "Reporting as ordered Sir."

"At ease, Commander Wright has some something he would like to discuss with you."

Wright picked up a box from the captain's desk and stood up. "Melissa Jarvis, by order of Maquis Command you are hearby promoted to the rank of Lieutenant Junior Grade." Wright opened the box revealing a small pip and handed it to her. "Congratulations Lieutenant."

Melissa was shocked, she was not expecting a promotion. "Thank you Sir," she said shaking the commander's hand.

Hunter smiled, "Melissa, there's more, you are hereby promoted to chief security officer. Congratulations." Hunter shook Melissa's hand and then gave her a salute.

Melissa returned his salute and said, "Thank you sir. I will not let you down."

Melissa beemed a smile at them as she left. It was turning out to be a very good day.

==Messhall==

Teilani had have a wonderful day, did some shopping, had had some nice conversation with Riaan and Misty but now it was time to get a bit to eat. She was really hungry. As she entered the messhall, hardly anybody was present, not even Miranda this was odd cause she was always there. Teilani walked to the replicator and ordered "Chicken Noodlesoup and crackers

Alyssa stared out the large window, admiring the stars...and the curve of Bajor. She wondered what was out there.....not only astronomical things...but other civilizations as well....more specifically, dead civilizations. They were almost always more interesting than live civilizations. Except for the Makites....those people had been so dull that they made watching Paint dry seem fun.

Northrop thought about her parents....and her brothers. She wondered where Robert was right now...wondered what he'd think of his Baby Sister joining the Maquis. It had been a while since she'd seen him. Then she came to James.....poor James. Locked up by the Federation.....kept away from Mother and Father.

She shook her head, trying to banish the tears from her eyes. She sniffled a bit....then rested her forehead on her arms on the table.

Carefully carrying the bowl of soup Teilani checked out the mess hall, she actually did not want to eat alone. She spotted a new crewmember, it was a woman sitting alone at a corner table, her head rested on her arms. Teilani recognised the body language, it looked as if she was crying, looking a bit lost. Teilani walked over "Hello”, she said. “Are you alright?”

The dark haired woman's head shot up and fixed on the intruder.....this very beautiful intruder. "I...yes," she sniffed, "I'm fine."

Teilani placed the bowl on the table. Her eyes filled with compassion, looked at the young woman “Your new here, aren’t you. Teilani stuck out her hand, I’m Dr Teilani Dane, Zion’s CMO, do you mind if I sit here”?

Alyssa used her sleeve to dry her eyes, "If you want to." She stood up, "I was just about to go anyway. It was nice meeting you, Dr. Dane."

"Please don't go away on my account, you didn’t even tell me your name. “Please stay, I hate eating alone", Teilani smiled. "If you want you can even tell me what is troubling you".

She sank back into her chair, not really feeling like chatting at the moment but not finding that she had any other choice at the moment. "Alyssa....Dr. Alyssa Northrop." She looked down, then slapped her legs a little, "I guess that's Warrant Officer Alyssa Northrop now."

Remembering that little tidbit was going to be a pain in the arse. It had only been a few days.....so she was sure that she'd get used to it sooner or later. "I'm sorry you saw me like this...I'm not usually like that. You can ask any of my Grad students...well, former Grad students." Sighing, she continued, "The Federation has my family....they're under constant observation. My brother and I tried to get my parents and my other brother out, but it was too late. My brother James is in R&D you see....so they're making extra sure that he stays put. That's why I joined the Maquis...after my older brother Robert told me what happened. I've....been out of the loop one might say."

"Everybody has a bad day sometimes, believe me I know". "I'm sorry to hear about your family, but you know that they are still alive even though they are in Federation custody". Teilani played with her food, her Appetite was gone.

"I don't even know if mine are still alive, they went missing a long time ago". Teilani sighed thinking about her parents and her baby brother. Her face hardened, it was no time to get all mushy over it. Teilani gazed out of the window, feeling lost. They were probably dead, she suppressed the thought.

She turned her gaze back at Dr Northrop. "Well maybe the Zion can make a difference in this war and one day help you free your family.”

"Anyway glad to have you on board.” Teilani placed her napkin on the table and stood up, it was obvious this new addition to the crew had her own sorrows and was reluctant to talk. "I'm sorry if I have bothered you, Dr Northrop, it was nice meeting you.”

"You didn't bother me.....don't go." Now it looked as if Dr. Dane could use a friend of her own. "I'm sorry to hear about your family."

Reaching across the table, she took Telani's hand. "Please...sit....we can make each other feel better." She smiled and hoped that her words kept this gorgeous woman here.

Teilani hesitated, she bit her lower lip as she looked at Dr Northrop. Then she smiled and sat back down again. “So tell me have you had the grand tour of the Zion already?.” “If you want I can show you around.”

"No....I've only seen my quarters...the Mess Hall...and the holodeck." She blushed lightly, "I'm not even sure how to get back to my quarters from here.....though I could probably figure it out." She smiled. "I'd love a tour."

“Right then”, Teilani said amused. “Follow me”. She stood up and walked to the door. Looking backwards to see if Dr Northrop was following her.

Alyssa followed her tourguide, intent on learning the layout of the ship. She hadn't really had time to study the layout...but this sort of learning was always the most fun. Especially when your guide was a looker. Her face broke out into a sly smile as she watched the Doctor walk in front of her.

“As you know we are now at deck ten, leaving the messhall”. With long confident steps Teilani lead Dr Northrop along Deck 10. “Here we have Miranda’s”, Teilani pointed at the door. “This is a great place to relax if the crew messhall is getting too crowded. And besided Miranda makes some mean drinks”.

“Of course we have the pool, the gymnasium and the holodecks 1-3 if you are interested in a good workout or play some holo programs.

Northrop took in all of what was being said, "Ok....I'll keep that in mind." She preferred swimming at the beach, though if necessary she could swim in a pool. It was good exercise, even if there was no sun and no waves.

Teilani walked over to the turbo lift. “Next stop deck 16, Main engineering. It did not take them long before reaching deck 16.

Teilani pointed to the right, “here we are, main engineering”. Teilani walked through the doors, looking to see if the Chief Silvio was present. Unfortunately he wasn’t but Ensign Witmore was there.

“Hello ladies”, he said with a big smile on his face. “What brings you to here, we do not get many visitors here”.

“I’m just giving Dr Northrop a tour of the Zion”, Teilani said.

Craig got a big smile on his face. “Welcome onboard, if you need any info about the engines just gimme a buzz”.

Looking around the large room, Alyssa found herself staring in awe. The ships that she'd been on previously hadn't been very big and thusly hadn't had an engine room quite this big. She could feel the power from the Warp Core thrumming through the deck plating, even as she stood several meters away.

“Are you ready to continue”, Teilani asked. “Good then we go further to deck 8”. Both girls walked to the turbo lift again. And it did not take long before they reached deck 8.

“Welcome to my domain”, Teilani said, pointing to sickbay. “If you ever need medical attention here’s the place to be. Further we have here Stellar Cartography, the science labs, etc. Not much to see as most of the crew is on the station”.

"You'll pardon me if I say that I don't ever have to see you in your official capacity, Doctor Dane." She gave the other woman a small wink and followed her movements.

Teilani smiled and lead the way back to the corridors to yet another turbolift. “Are your feet holding out,” she asked. “If you have had enough just let me know.”

"Oh...walk through enough jungles...and your feet get tough. I'm fine. As they used to say, 'Lead on, MacDuff.'"

Good just two more decks. “Deck 5, please.

“Ah here we are at deck 5, Security and intell offices and a place you never want to be in namely the brig. Teilani laughed. I believe you have to report to Lt. Atwood right?”.

Alyssa nodded, "Yes....Lt. Atwood is my new boss." She took a good look, getting the impression that this was where she'd be working quite a bit. Her impression was solidified a moment later.

"Than this is his office," Teilani pointed to the left. “He is a decent guy, you will like him.”

"I hope so." She chuckled a bit, "I've had plenty of Professors and colleges tell me that I was both a pleasure and a pain in the ass to work with."

Teilani smiled, she had already figured that mucht. So she said, as they entered yet another turbolift again. “Deck 1”. “Let me tell you, Dr, Teilani spoke softly, even I have never been to the bridge”.

"I've not been the Zion's bridge, but I have been on starship bridges before." She found the redhead's confession slightly perplexing. "You're the CMO and haven't ever been on the bridge of your own ship?"

Teilani shook her head, “No, work has kept me so busy of late and I do not even know if the Captain would allow it”. Both Teilani and Alyssa stepped from the turbolift into the chaos on the bridge. They dodged two technicians working nearby beneath a console. There were repairs going on but the sight of the bridge and the view screen was absolutely breathtaking. As they both were standing there, Teilani turned to Dr Northrop and chuckled. “Dr, I believe this concludes our tour. Donations can be left at the box near the door.”

Alyssa smiled, "Thank you Doctor....I've enjoyed this thouroughly." She took in the site of the bridge, wondering if she would end up like the good Doctor and never end up here again. Somehow she doubted that. "Well...I need to get back to my quarters and get changed into my uniform. I have to report in to Lt. Atwood."

That being said, she stepped back into the Turbolift with the Doctor and commanded it down.

Chester: The World Tour "

Chester was bored. Captain had been gone all day and he was not happy about it. Chester jumped onto Captain's bed and began licking his front right leg. This made him feel better so he began working on the left front leg. Chester had almost forgotten he was mad at Captain when the doors hissed open. "Captain," Chester thought as he jumped off the bed and made his way to the door. The doors closed again but Chester did not

see Captain anywhere.

The doors opened again and this time there was a strange thing there. It

was shaped like a human thing but it floated instead of using it's paws.

Chester did not know what it was but is was *not* Captain. Chester hissed at it and crouched low to the floor. Slowly Chester slunk out the

open door and into the hallway. Suddenly Chester realized he was outside. He happily padded down the hallway until he found a magic room that went to other places. He waited quietly until the doors opened and he got on. When he got off again he found himself in a big room. It had plants in it and much to his delight he found a big box of sand. Chester

jumped into the sand and began rolling around in to. This was so much fun he could not help but purr. Eventually the sand got boring and Chester had to go. Chester finished his business in the sand and very carefully covered it up and then went back to the magic box.

When he got back on the magic box he found a person was already using it. She looked friendly enough so Chester brushed up against her legs and purred.

As the doors slid open, Zoei leaned back against the wall of the turbo lift. The short walk around deck had stretched her legs and relaxed her mind. Since the docking at Qul Tuq, her office had been a flurry of final reports and tranfers of information onto the station.

Sensing something small entering the turbolift, she glanced down as the cat began twining around her ankles. He was a handsome animal, she had to admit. Betazids, among their other idiosyncracies, often had issues with small creatures. Their feelings and impressions could be overwhelming. Zoei didn't have a lot of experience with the little mites, but this one seemed friendly enough. Crouching to the floor, she laid her hand, palm down, across her foot. She waited patiently for the cat to approach her.

Chester cautiously sniffed her hand. She smelled nice. Getting bolder he brushed her hand with the left side of his head and then again with the right. As she rubbed his fur with her hand Chester purred and rolled onto his back and closed his eyes.

Chester has to open his eyes again because she had stopped rubbing his furr. When he did he wished he had not. The lights in the box flickered and there it was again that floating thing that he had seen at home. It was floating near the top of the box. Chester hissed loudly and got to his feet. This had gone on far enough He arched his back an puffed out his fur. He hissed again, stood on his hind legs ans tried to hit at it with his front claws. It was no use he could not reach it.

The cat she had been gently petting moments before became a hissing ball of fur. The low growl rumbled through the turbo lift, startling Zoei with its intensity. The fear and uncertaintity were so intense, she felt she could reach out and touch the tension in the air. Zoei tilted her head back, glancing at the ceiling. She wasn't sure what was there, but the cat was reacting to something in the lift.

As quickly as it appeared the thing left. Chester was pleased as he obviously scared it off and protected the nice human in the box. Chester was starting to miss Captain. He looked at the human hoping he would take him back to Captain. This was enough adventure for one day.

"Should we find you your home, little one?" She softly stroked the cat's back.

The doors opened and Chester left the magic box followed by the human. He was pleased to see the box had taken him home. He went to Captain's doors. Standing up on his hind legs he began scratching the door.

Zoei approached the door from behind the cat. She pressed the door chime and waited for the Captain to answer.

Hunter came to the door, as it opened Chester stepped in and mewed loudly. He looked up at the counselor with a shrug, "I don't know how he could have gotten out, my door was locked, thanks for bringing him back though."

"He really brought himself back, I just rang the door chime, Sir. We ran into each other on the turbo lift. If I might say so, Sir, his behavior was a little odd."

The cat squirmed as Hunter picked him up. "Odd? how so?"

"While on the turbo lift, he appeared to have seen something near the ceiling. I couldn't see anything myself, but the cat definitely had his eye on something. He was growling and batting at the ceiling with his paws. I do not mean to make mountains out of molehills, but from the children that were on board, I heard several stories of your gentle kitty. This behavior did not meet their description."

"Hmm..." said Hunter curiously, "His heart is beating quite fast and he isn't purring. This is unusual for him. Do you sense anything with him?"

"Please remember that animals are different than people, so it is a little more challenging to accurately sense what they are feeling. The emotions I am picking up are primarily fear, tinged with anxiety. Whatever he is seeing is not something he feels is friendly or welcoming to him and he wants to not only be away from it, but for it to leave."

"He wants 'it' to 'leave'? Sounds like he's seeing ghosts?" said Hunter with a chuckle of amusement, "Would you like to come in counselor?"

"Captain, as silly as it sounds, that is the impression I am getting. I appreciate the invitation, Sir, but I have a few more reports to finish. If I don't get back and get working on them, they probably won't be done today." With a smile and a nod, Zoei took one step backward, pivoted on her right heel, and strode down the corridor back to the turbolift.

Hunter set Chester down and stepped to the replicator and got a bowl of cream for him. He set it down and watched Chester lap up the cream while starring back intently. Suddenly the door opened, Hunter turned around startled. There was nothing there. When he turned back to Chester was walking sideways toward the bedroom, as if he were mirroring the movements of a rival cat, His fur stood straight up on his arched back and straight up tail. He hissed as steadily, and his eyes were fixated. "Chester!" said the Captain, not getting a response he picked up a phaser and a tricorder walked in the direction the cat was facing. He was in the middle of the room, across from the door when suddenly the tricorder went dead and the phaser powered down.

He felt a slight breeze which was cold enough to make the hair on his arm stand on end, He spun around, but there was nothing there.

Hunter tapped his combadge, it too was dead. He went to the desk and tapped the intercom, "Security, to my quarters immediately, activate a level 5 containment field."

Walking on my grave "
By: Patia Zoei, Chief Counselor, [PC]

Stardate: 58204.17 1630

58204.17 1630 ==USS Zion== Patia walked down the hall from the Captain's quarters. Chester's behavior had been perplexing to say the least. It was enough to make her wonder if some further investigating would need to be done.

The turbo lift opened as she approached it. A crew member brushed by her, close enough that she could feel the movement of the air surrounding him. His face was averted from her. With a second glance, she couldn't be sure it was a "him". A shiver ran up her spine. "Someone is walking on my grave," was the thought that flashed through her mind.

Patia chuckled out loud. The thought was so irrational, so nonsensical, it surprised her the thought had even occurred to her. She leaned against the wall of the turbo lift as it sped her to the deck level for her office. That saying had been one she had heard often during her childhood on Earth. She had never experienced the feeling that went with it until today, though.

The door slid open again. Shaking herself to rid her mind of the thoughts, she strode purposefully from the lift and down the hall. Pausing in front of her office door to give her security clearance code, she shifted from her left foot to her right, impatiently waiting for the command to be processed. Patia was uncomfortable standing in the hallway. She felt exposed, open, vulnerable. It was as though whatever she had felt outside the turbo lift was back again, following her. The doors whooshed open. With a glance behind her, she stepped quickly into her office. Behind her, she felt more than heard, the vibration of the doors as they shut. Patia leaned back against the door, pressing her palms against the cool, smooth surface of the doors. She needed to get over this if she was going to finish up her reports.

Crossing to the replicator, Patia said, "Raspberry iced tea, with two raspberries." The glass was cool to the touch, similar to the feel of the door. It was oddly comforting, a tangible bit of reality she can grasp and hold on to without any eerie feelings.

Back at her desk, Patia rifled through reports and paperwork. A few were quick to sort through. The last report in the pile was the report made by Ensign Riaan about Dr. Dane. This had been one she was putting off. Now, with the three deaths, there was no more avoidance.

"Computer, Memo to Dr. Teilani Dane," Patia began. "Doctor Dane, I realize this message will reach you after you have, hopefully, been able to leave Sick Bay. Please contact me at your earliest convenience to set up a follow up appointment. Please plan on spending roughly an hour and a half with me. I would also like you to schedule this appointment for the end of your work day, when you are not planning to return to Sick Bay for the day. If this appointment needs to be after normal office hours, that will be fine as well. Thank you for your prompt attention to this request. Counselor Zoei." Patia leaned forward in her chair, scanning the memo. "Computer, send message."

Glancing at her wrist chronometer, Zoei saw it was 2100. Her stomach rumbled. She was going to have to quit skipping meals or she would be seeing Dr. Dane for medical reasons. She filed the rest of the papers away, then pushed away from her desk. She would have a quick stop at Miranda's on the way back to her quarters, then call it a night.

Hunter was on his way down to see Dr. Northrop to see if she was adjusting okay. As the doors of the turbolift she was waiting outside. Hunter smiled, "What a coincidence, Doctor, I was just on my way to see you."

"Well...you found me." She smiled slightly, "What can I do for you, Captain?"

He stepped off the turbo lift, "I was just going to see if you were managing alright, I trust ops found you decent quarters?

"Yes....my quarters are just fine. And I'm fine.....managing ok." Alyssa leaned back against the wall.

Hunter nodded at the box she was carrying, "an archeology relic Doctor?"

"No...it's not an artifact. It's my personal protection." She smirked.

Hunter turned his head sideways, "protection?" He smiled, "what's in there?"

She scowled, then opened the box. "Phaser pistols," turning it around so he could see them.

Hunter, who himself was an avid collector of weapons smiled, "Very nice Doctor...May I?"

She nodded. "They're weighted for me....so they'll probably feel a little off in your hands....but, have a look."

Hunter respectfully picked one up and inspected it. "Nice pieces, they look like they've been around." He said, placing it back in its place.

She looked into the box. The nickel plating was a bit scratched and nicked. "Yeah....well....they've gotten me out of some tricky situations."

Hunter chuckled, "Why do I get the feeling that understatements are a habit with you Doctor?" he said looking at her with feigned suspicion.

She gave him a smile."Perhaps because I don't like to toot my own horn?"

Hunter squinted slightly, "So the next obvious question is, where are you going with a pair of custom phasers?"

"Holodeck. I need to get some target practice in. I only scored 90% on the Phaser Quals. That's poor for me." She shrugged.

Hunter nodded, "I wouldn't be happy with that either, Mind if I join you Doctor?"

Northrop shrugged, "If you'd like, Sir."

As Hunter turned around the turbo lift doors opened, "After you Doctor," After stepping into the Turbolift, Alyssa pulled out a pair of leg holsters from the box and began to strap them on.....so she could holster her pistols.

Hunter turned and watched, "You seem to have a penchant for non-standard gear." he said with a chuckle.

"Well...you go for functional when you do the sort of work I do. retrieval is a dangerous line of work. They might have been dead for a LONG time....but they really don't want you getting their stuff."

The turbodoor opened and the pair walked toward the holodecks, "I see," said Hunter.

She nodded, then began tapping on the console next to the door. The doors opened up....showing what certainly wasn't a standard training program. It looked like an old temple....with some high tech hints to it. "I hope you're armed...or this could hurt." Confidently, she walked in and disappeared around the corner.

Hunter took up his side arm and checked the setting, not knowing what to expect he moved to a defensive spot

Hunter could hear her footsteps on the hard stone floor echoing off the hard walls and ceiling. She hadn't drawn her weapons yet....but then again, nothing was happening as of yet.

That was...until the first target appeared. He was a fairly ugly looking fellow.....and he brought a bunch of his friends. She drew and began firing.....each shot taking down a different target.

"Nice shooting Doctor," he said.

Hunter heard movement behind them and pivoted firing at targets behind them. Alyssa kept herself in motion, shots whizzing past......her firing back.

The number of targets steadily increased, Hunter rolled to another defensive position and continued to return fire.

After approximately ten minutes, the targets, both fallen and otherwise, vanished and the room was filled with the computer's voice. "Level Clear. Player 1: 98% Player 2: 97%." Alyssa holstered her pistols. "Level 2 comencing." The room shifted....to the old west. Targets began popping out of building windows, doors, and from around corners. The point of this one was target selection and shot accuracy.

Hunter smiled, the challenge was definitely more intense, he aimed and squeezed off shots as fast as he could that were 'threat' targets. Then mysteriously his phaser stopped working. He had to evade his opponents as he checked the weapon. A few minutes later the practice was over.

Alyssa had posted a perfect score. This was always her favorite part of the program. "Ok Captain.....up to you....we can go to the next level...or go get a drink?"

Hunter tried to fire at a distant object but his phaser would not fire. The Captain holstered his phaser, "Looks like my phaser is dead and and you got your aim honed in, how about a drink?"

"You buying?" She smirked and slipped her pistol back into her holster.

Hunter smiled, "Losers buy, eh Doctor?"

Northrop called for the program to end....and walked out the door....not bothering to take the pistols off her hips.

As they walked down the corridor Hunter asked, "Would you like to go to the Officers lounge or Mirandas?"

"You lead....I'll follow, Oh Captain My Captain." She smirked...and waited for him to lead on.

"Miranda's it is," said Hunter.

* * * * *

They found a table that was out of the way. A waitress came up for their order. Hunter ordered an Irish Cream. "What would you like?" asked the waitress of ALyssa.

She looked the waitress up and down, then smiled. "Um....Saurian Brandy, please."

As the waitress left, Hunter turned his attention to Alyssa, "That was pretty good shooting, where did you learn that?"

"I had to....one of my recoveries almost killed me.....so...I spent some latinum and made sure that wouldn't happen again." She looked at the table.

The waitress returned with the drinks. Hunter swished his drink around and took a swallow. "It sounds like you have lots of stories to tell." he said with a smirk.

Alyssa shrugged. "I don't know.....maybe."

"So tell me about your brother."

"Which one?" She looked Hunter in the eyes.

"You have one being held by the Federation right?"

The brunnette nodded, "Yeah....he's a R&D Engineer....they did want to risk him leaving....like me and my other brother did."

"When was the last time you heard from him?" asked Hunter with geniune concern.

"Before I left for my last dig. That was almost a year ago."

"I see," said Hunter, "...I have family on Earth too. I understand."

She only nodded. "I want so much to just go get them...but I don't stand a chance against Starfleet Security...not by myself."

"It would take more than an armada I'm afraid," he added.

"Or a cloaked ship and two small spec ops teams." SHe looked at him.....letting him know she had a plan to get them out.

Hunter smirked and drank down the last of his drink.

She sipped her drink slowly, "Yeah....well...That's why I joined the Maquis."

Hunter sat back, "well, we're happy you are onboard." he said.

"Thank you, Captain. I just hope I can help."

Hunter stood up, "Well, I should be going, Doctor, come and see me sometime, we'll talk some more."

"I'll do that, Captain. Thank you for the drink."

Hunter turned and left Miranda's.

TJ stood on the Observation deck overlooking the Atlanta. She had bad phaser burns on her hull. The work crews had already begun repairs. She had held up well in battle. TJ was proud of his ship and his crew. They had taken some losses but worked diligently to make repairs. Most of the repairs has been made on the way back to Qult Tuq. He had given them the evening off.

“Hello TJ.”

TJ turned around and looked at Miranda. “Hello Miranda. You look nice.”

Miranda smiled at TJ. “Thank you . You aren’t looking so bad yourself.”

“Are you ready to go,” said TJ offering her his arm. She nodded and the two of them strolled down the promenade toward Quarks. At Quarks they found a quiet table and sat down. When the waiter came over TJ ordered a bottle of Bajorian spring wine. “So, how do you like the Zion?”

“It is a nice ship, “ she replied. “Very young crew. What about you? How has life been on the Atlanta?”

As TJ was about to answer when their spring wine arrived. Taking a sip of wine has said, “I have only been on board for a few months but I feel like it has been a year. I have chased Romulans and dodged Cardassians. What more can a guy ask for?” TJ noticed a Ferengi enter the bar and take a seat near the back. Something looked very familiar about him but TJ could not put his finger on why? “How is your Rosie,” he asked Miranda.

“Mother is doing fine. She is a little unhappy that I chose to joing the Zion but she will get over it.” Miranda winked at TJ. “ I think she was hoping you and I would settle down. She likes you, you know.”

TJ chuckled, “I am not the marrying type Miranda.” TJ glanced over at the Ferngi. A human was not sitting with him The seemed to be havi9ng an intense conversation. TJ’s brain was still struggling with the identity of the Ferengi.

“I know, I am really not ready to settle down yet either. I am not even 100 years old yet,” she said with a smile.

Miranda continued to talk but TJ was not really listening. That Ferengi was bothering him. He knew him from somewhere. As Miranda continued to talk TJ ran the Ferengi through his memory, then he remembered. He was younger then ande not as fat but he was looking at the Ferengi slave trader Ramok. TJ had run into him while he was on the Griffon. He was a nasty Ferengi.

Miranda could see she had lost TJ interest. “And then there was the time when I turned my skin blue with orange dots,” she said.

“Uh-huh,” said TJ still watching the Ferengi and his associate. He was sure that they were up to no good.

“TJ,” said Miranda grabbing his elbow, “What is it that is so important that you are ignoring me?”

TJ apologized and then said, “There is a Ferengi over there, I know he is up to know good.”

“What makes you think that?”

“His name is Ramok. He is a flesh peddler,” he said. The Ferengi and his companion got up and left the bar. TJ waited a bit and got up, “Come on let’s follow them.”

Miranda got up and followed after him, “TJ, this is silly, they have done nothing wrong.”

“Yes they have we just need to find out what it is.”

They strolled through the promenade following a safe distance behind Ramok. Soon they the promenade and moved into the habitation section. TJ and Miranda were forced to follow at a closer distance to avoid loosing them. They held hands and made general small talk. Ramok and his companion got on a lift. TJ and Miranda got on the lift with them. Keeping his back to Ramok TJ kissed Miranda. The continued kissing until the lift arrived at their destination and Ramok and his associate got off. TJ waited until the lift was about to close then they got out just in time to see Ramok enter what he assumed was his quarters.

“Great date TJ, “ she said with a smile. “Following fat Ferengi’s is my ideal date.”

“Just wait,” said TJ as they moved into a nearby alcove. “We can watch the door from here.”

No sooner than they had gotten out of sight the door opened again and the came out again. “Very nice Garn,” said Ramok shaking hands with the stranger. “Have the package sent to docking ring one. Your payment will arrive the usual way.”

“Thank you Ramok,” said Garn. “Shall we go have another drink to seal the deal?”

“Your buying,” said Ramok as the got on the turbo lift.

TJ looked at Miranda, “I told you.” He went to the door and pulled out a small tool. He began working on the access panel.

“You bring your tools with you on a date,” Miranda whispered incredulously.

“I don’t go anywhere without this one,” he said as the door slid open.

“Never a dull moment,” she said as the entered the room. What Miranda saw next made her gasp. Bound and gagged was Kelly Forrester, the missing operations officer from the Zion. She was partially clad and covered in bruises. “That is Ensign Forrester, she is on the Zion.”

“I believe we better contact station security now,” said TJ.

“I don’t think so,” said a voice from behind them.

TJ turned to see Ramok and Garn, who was holding a weapon in his hand. “I thought I recognized you. You are Roja Fin. You used to be on the Griffon,” said Ramok to TJ. He walked over to Miranda. “You I do not know but you will make a nice addition to my catalog.” Looking back at Garnhe said, “Two for the price of one Garn.” He laughed.

“I think you are wrong,” said Miranda giving TJ a look. She quickly grabbed both the lobes on the Ferengi’s head and squeezed. This caused Ramok to howl in pain. Miranda then smashed her head into the top of Ramok’s head and then brought her knee up into his midsection. The Ferengi gasped for breath. Miranda finished of the flailing Ferengi by slamming his head into the wall where he collapsed to the floor.

TJ did not hesitate, as soon as Miranda attacked he lunged for Garn and caught him squarely with his shoulder. Garn’s weapon flew across the room as both men fell to the floor. Garn got to his feet quickly and kicked TJ in the ribs. TJ rolled with the kick and was ready fir the next kick. He caught Garn’s kick and he toppled over backwards. TJ jumped onto Garn and smashed his fist into Garn’s face several times until Garn stopped moving.

TJ got up holding his side as he and Miranda approached Forrester. “She is unconscious,” said Miranda.

“We better get her some help. Did you bring your communicator?” TJ grabbed a bed covering and they wrapped it around Forrester.

It was dark in the doctors office, Teilani was still on duty. As she had given all her staff the rest of the day and night off she had to pull a double shift. Not that she mind, she liked sitting in the dark, only a small

light was on, highlighting the sunflower painting.

Sipping at her coffee, she was checking out some lab results as she heard the distinctive whinge of a transporterbeam.

"Computer lights on", she ordered, running out of her office.

In sickbay she saw tree persons materialize, recognized Miranda, the Zion's lounge manager the two others were unknown to her. Miranda and her companion

held up a third female person, seemingly unconscious.

"Put her on the biobed" Teilani ordered, she was in her element, what happened", she asked, grabbing a tricorder.

"This is Ensign Forrester, she has been badly beaten," said Miranda. "TJ and

I found her like this. She apparently has been abducted."

Teilani shoved TJ to the side, running the scanner over the unconscious ensign. Teilani tapped the biobeds console so that the diagnostics were displayed. Quick action was needed. The ensign was severely beaten en bruised. Teilani prepared a hypospray with 10cc inaprovaline, 5 cc of cortisone and pressed it in the ensigns neck, as well as placing a neurostimulator on the ensign forehead. She ran the scanner over the ensigns

body again. The readings were dangerously low. This was all she could do for now, she had to wait until the medicine kicked in.

Computer Teilani ordered: - run a level 1 diagnostic at cellular level on neurological trauma and bloodwork. Breakdown diagnostic in the following sequences: viruses, alpha and beta brain waves, any other anomalies.

Miranda rubbed the bruise on the top of her head and wondered just what has possessed her to slam her head into the Ferengi's. She knew she was going to have a whopper of a headache. She decided it was worth it. It was a good little fight, she thought. "We got into a little fight Doctor trying to

help Ensign Forrester. We should probably alert the captain."

Teilani turned her attention to Miranda and TJ. She nodded, "That would be a

good idea". "Right you two, she said, have a seat", pointing to the other biobed. It was more than obvious that they had been into a fight. Teilani ran her scanner over Miranda, readings indicated that she had only a major headache and some bruising on her forehead.

Teilnai took a new hypospray from the tray and prepared a small dose of inaprovaline, this would cure the headache. She gently pressed the hypo to Miranda's neck. "Your gonna be fine, she said. "In the morning you might feel like you have had too much romulan ale".

"Thanks Doctor, I did not think Ferengi's had such hard heads," she said rubbing her forehead.

Teilani chuckled, "If you ever need to know how to disable a Ferengi other than besides hitting him in the head come and see me".

As the Docter turned to TJ Miranda said, "This is TJ, he is the Chief Engineer on the Atlanta."

"Hello", Teilani said. "Nice to meet you Sir". " Although I would have preferred this under different circumstances".

TJ smiled. "Nice meeting you too Doctor."

Teilani ran her tricoder along his body. "What the h** she cursed, looking at her tricorder. According to the readings TJ did not have any lifesigns at

all. This was weird. Teilani pushed some buttons, resetting the tricoder and

ran the scan again. No luck, she walked over to the biobed console, taking another tricorder.

"Damn", she cursed, the other one was also not working. She tossed the tricorder to the side. "Sorry sir, but I need to examine you the old fashioned way. It seems that the tricoder is giving up, I do not know what is the matter with it.

"Let me see that," said TJ picking up the discarded tricorder. He opened it

and scanned the doctor. Sure enough there were no readings. TJ looked at the tricorder again and found that it had been placed in stand-by mode. Turning off standby, he again scanned the doctor. Her blood pressure and heart rate seemed slightly elevated. "Old fashioned indeed," thought TJ as he closed the tricorder and handed it back to her saying, "It appears to be working now."

"You must be kidding, Teilani said surprised looking at the tricorder. "How did you manage that?". "I have been trouble with these things all day". Teilani ran the scanner over TJ again and indeed the tricorder gave the correct readings. She continued talking. "First the climate control failed, than the replicator went nuts, instead of giving me coffee I got ghoo and now the tricorders". Teilani mumbled, "It is that I do not believe in ghosts but otherwise I would say that the Zion is hunted".

"Probably should let engineering know. It can take a while to get these new

ships settled in. The tricorder was just in stand-by mode," said TJ.

"Let me see your knuckles", she ordered. Can you make a fist for me, Sir". Teilani took a derma regenerator and fixed the bruised knuckles as well has TJ's bruised ribs. "You are going to be fine also Sir" , Teilani said putting away the regenerator and hypospray.

"Thank you Doctor."

"Excuse me, Miranda, TJ, you realize that I have to report this to the Captain".

"Yes, probably to security as well. I am not sure how the Ensign came to be

in their possession but they were planning on smuggling her off the ship. The Ferengi is a slave trader and he was looking to buy her," said TJ.

"A slave trader, Teilani said startled. "This is alarming news". She tapped her combadge Dane to Captain Hunter

"Hunter here" came the reply

Please report to sickbay urgently

"I'm on my way."

"O.K. you two" , Teilani said with a smile, you are free to go". "Miranda, if your head is still sore in the morning come back to me". "I will sent a note to your own CMO TJ, so that he knows about your injuries"

Hunter entered sickbay and came to stand beside Teilani as she continued to examine her patients.

Teilani updated Hunter. He turned to TJ and offered his hand, "Thank-you, TJ. It seems poker isn't the only thing you are good at."

TJ shook the captain's hand, "Thank you sir. Poker would have probably been less painful," smirked TJ as he rubbed his ribs.

"I will be sending my commendations to Captain Hailey. You quite possibly saved our Ops officer."

"I am just glad I saw the Ferengi in Quarks," replied TJ.

"Do you know who this ferengi is and have you contacted station security yet?"

"His name is Ramok. I know him from my pre-starfleet days. He was, or maybe still is a slave trader. We did not call base security as we wanted to get the Ensign to help as fast as possible. I hightly doubt that they will find him anyhow. TJ glanced at Miranda, "Unless Miranda managed to kill hm with that headbutt she hit him with."

Miranda smiled uncomfortably.

Hunter smiled, "Headbutt? Miranda? Well, uhm good job!"

Maranda nodded.

"TJ, I'm going to need you and Miranda to talk to our security officer, Lt Jarvis about this matter. I'll have her come right down."

Hunter turned slightly, Jarvis, please report to Sickbay.

Melissa was interviewing a rather beligerant Federation prisoner when the captain's call to sickbay came in.

She tapped her comm badge, "On my way Captain."

"It's your lucky day," she said to the prisioner. "We will continue our conversation another time."

"Drop dead," he said as he was being led away.

"That was very original prisoner," replied Melissa as she left and headed to sickbay. When she arrived at sickbay she was briefed by the captain about the incident on the station. As the captain was leaving she notified station security and began questioning TJ and Miranda. When she had no more question to ask TJ and Miranda left sickbay.

Melissa stood next to Ensign Forrester's bio bed and watched her. She had been hurt pretty badly. This type of thing should not happen on a starbase, she thought. Melissa returned to the security office and began reviewing her notes on the numerous prisoner interviews that she had been doing. It was getting late and she was about to go off shift when a message popped up on her screen. It was a report from the station. The Ferengi and his accomplish seemed to have vanished. Base security suspected that they got on a transport to Bajor and had alerted the Bajoran government, however, no sign on them had been found on any of the transports when they arrived.

Melissa rubbed her temples and sighed. "more bad guys get away," she said in a tires quiet voice.

***

Miranda watched as TJ beamed back over to the Atlanta and then returned to her quarters. She began getting ready for bed when she remembered something the Ferengi had said. He said that he knew TJ only called Raja Finn. Mirnada went to a console and asked the computer to pull up any inforamtion about a person called Raja Finn. "Very interesting," she said as she read through the data.
