Blitzer had arrived early for the shakedown voyage. He had been anxious ever since the morning briefing. After getting clearance he entered the secured shuttle deck where about a dozen crewmen tended the Pegasus, the Maquis newest small fast-attack ship.

"Hi," said Blitzer.

One of the crewman looked at Blitzer, "Good afternoon Sir, ready to take her out for a spin?"

"Yep," he said proudly, "she ready to go?"

"Almost Sir," said the ensign, "just topping off the fuel."

Blitzer saluted, "Carry on."

He quickly boarded the small ship and headed for the bridge where he was immediately greeted by the AI.

"Good afternoon M'Ressha Mihkat. Welcome aboard the Pegasus," Rahw smiled at the pilot.

"Hello, Rahw" he said studying the AI, "Can you help me start a pre-flight systems check?"

"Of course I can." She waved her hand and Blitzer watched as the LCAR screens came to life, he monitored as the AI ran through the systems checks.

"That was easy," said Blitzer, "I'm going to like this," he said to the AI.

Satisfied, he locked his knuckles behind his head and leaned back and waited for Burner.

He couldn't wait to take it out, if this ship flew anything like the holoflight simulations, this was going to be an awesome flight.

Burner waved at the ensign as he ran into the little ship. It was their first flight and he had been waiting for this day ever since his first holodeck training session. Like a kid in a candy shop Burner made hs way to the bridge, taking the step two at a time.

Burner found Blitzer and the AI program having a conversation. "Hey Babe," he said to Rahw. He did not like her name at all. Hot holograms just should not be called Rahw. "How is it hanging?"

The AI's holographic avatar quirked a brow at "Babe" and snorted softly. "I was not supplied with *hanging* bits," she informed him. "However, the Pegasus is hanging just fine. Welcome aboard, Bartholomew."

"Bartholowmew..." snickered Blitzer under his breath.

Burner suppressed the urge to puke at the mention of his real name. "You and I are going to get along well Sugar," he began, "please call me Burner."

"As you wish, Bartholomew," Rahw grinned at him.

"Hiya Blitz!" said Burner. "Ready to get this boat in space?"

"Pre-systems checks are all done," said Blitzer winking at Rahw.

Rahw folded her arms under her breasts and winked back at Blitzer.

Randi Dorton appeared at the bridge door, "Gentleman," she said gesturing to them as she took a seat at the engineering console. She brought up several displays. "Rahw, please initiate flight sequence alpha."

"It would be my pleasure, Dorton," Rahw nodded with a grin for the engineer and waved a hand. "Flight sequence alpha initiated. Buckle up," she told Blitzer and Burner.

The warp engines fired up smoothly, Dorton monitored the AI's progress. When we was satisfied she stood up and put a hand on the top both of the flight crew's seat, "She's all yours, bring her back in one piece."

"Yes Ma'am," said Blitzer.

Dorton tapped her combadge, "USS Monitor, I'm ready to beam aboard."

"Take care of her," said Dorton as the transporter beam began to engulf her.

Blitzer looked at Burner as he put his paws on the flight control LCARs, "we ready to go?"

Burner nodded, "Let's light her up Big Cat."
