Stardate: 58205.16 1000
It had been a long night, but eventually Alyssa had gotten back to sleep. As she brushed her hair out, she went over in her head the list of things she needed to do today. At the top of the list was going by Sickbay. Apparently the Fleet felt that it was necessary for returning Exchange Officers to undergo physicals. Though, perhaps in her case that was a good idea. As much as she respected the Klingons....they weren't very clean.
A little while later, Northrop walked into Sickbay. It was fairly early yet, so the fact that she didn't see anyone wasn't terribly surprising. "Hello? Anyone here?"
A man peered from behind a partition, "Yes? can I help you?"
"I think you may be able to do just that. I'm Alyssa Northrop....I just got back from the Exchange Program on the Klingon Ship. As per regulations....it's time for a physical," she said, arms crossed a little.
"Ok Ms. Northrop, I'm Doctor Bartles, I'm actually the ship's flight surgeon, but Dr. Dane is away so I am helping out today." he said, looking through his PADD, "Ah, yes, Doctor Northrop..." his voice trailed off as he read the notes on the PADD. Looking up he instructed Alyssa, "come with me please."
Stopping at a bio bed, he gestured, "Please have a seat up here."
The Archeologist got up on the bio bed and looked back at the Doctor. She watched him as he pulled out his tricorder.
As he ran the tricorder over Alyssa, he inquired, "So, how was the exchange?"
"Oh....it was interesting," she said, putting it tactfully. "Never a dull moment."
Alyssa smiled at Bartles. "How much contact have you had with Klingons, Doctor?"
The Doctor smiled, "Well, I have done some work with them, and, I have an extensive background in their physiology." he paused his scan, "But actual contact? Not much. I spent a day on Kronos, and I was on a Vor'cha class cruiser, once." He chuckled, "but I guess they say they're more impressive than the ship you were on. I understand they are not built for comfort." He set down the tricorder stepped over to the console.
"Well," continued the Doctor as he produced a hypo from the medical replicator, "Your potassium levels are low... the hydrolyzed proteins in bloodwine will do that." he said with a coy smile and a wink. "Other than that you are fine, I'm also going to give you a mild antibiotic as a preventative measure with a bio stimulant. Some times their food contains certain parasites."
"Oh c'mon now Doc....you know that sometimes there food is parasites." She laughed a little, thinking of those Serpent Worms she'd been eating the last week.
The doctor chuckled. "That's my point exactly."
He pressed the hypospray against Alyssa's neck. "That's all," he said, "You are free to go. Be sure to report to sickbay if you feel any unusual symptoms."
"Thanks, Doctor. I'll be sure to let you all know if I start feeling strange." Northrop slid off the bed and headed for the door. It was time to get back to the office and go through the intel that had come in while she'd been away.
